Bluets

A photographic collection and brief reference to help identify Wildflowers found in New York

Bluet
- Houstonia caerulea

Bedstraw Family

A tiny plant and flower that makes a huge impression when flowering in mass.
My favorite "lawn" flower. The grass in my yard doesn't get mowed until I'm sure the plants have gone to seed.

Found: Fields, pastures, lawns - short grass area
Height: 2 - 8 inches
April - July bloom time - big burst of blooms in spring then occasionally through the season

Bluet

Luckier than a four leaf clover - a Bluet flower with 3 petals

Bluet

A tiny bouquet

Once the Bluets bloom the Pussytoes aren't far behind. My buddy Stinky isn't what I had in mind
