Wildflowers of New York

Dames Rocket

A photographic collection and brief reference to help identify Wildflowers found in New York

Dame's Rocket
- Hesperis matronalis

Mustard Family
Naturalized alien - garden escape - invasive
A very prolific seed producer, no wonder it's so invasive.

It looks like Phlox but if you count the petals you'll see Dame's Rocket only has 4 compared to Phlox's 5. Another difference is the long seed pods of Dame's Rocket typical of the Mustard Family.

Flowers can range from purple to pink to white

Found: Fields, roadsides, garden flower
Height: 1 - 3 feet
June - Aug bloom time
