Naturalized alien - garden escapee
The name is supposedly from Deptford, England were it reportedly grew in great abundance
Usually found in less than ideal growing conditions. In the wild it can't compete with larger plants in better conditions

note the white spotting on the flower and long bristly bracts

Found: Fields, roadsides, garden flower - Sunny, dry, poor soil
Height: 6 - 10 inch (average - up to 20 in garden conditions)
May - July bloom time
