This species was once classified as Lychnis alba but North American members of the genus Lychnis have been reclassified into the genus Silene

note:
Evening Lychnis has 5 styles versus 3 of other similar looking flowers in the Silene Genus such as Bladder Campion.
Flowers appear to have 10 petals but it's really 5 very deeply notched petals
